During the weekend I was reminded of the song performed by Elvis that said something like ”a little less conversation, a little more action”. I suddenly realized that the catchphrase is actually wrong.
We don’t need less conversation, we need less one-way talk, less monologues, less people telling you/us what to do.
Conversation for the sake of conversation is just ”small talk”. But conversation that occurs when people are really sharing ideas, debating over different points of view, or discussing how to tackle a problem or grab an opportunity can be highly beneficial. Otherwise we will eventually become machines that do lots of things but without much consideration or reflection.
Maybe the necessary road is one that combines both walking (action) and talking (conversation).
